How the Cookout Calories Calculator Works

Pick any item above and it joins your order. The calculator adds up calories, fat, carbs and protein as you go, and shows your total against a 2,000-calorie reference. It covers 131 items across burgers, chicken, BBQ and hot dogs, wraps, sides, milkshakes and drinks, using Cook Out's official nutrition figures.

Use it before you order: build the tray you are thinking about, swap a side or a drink, and watch the total change. The 2,000-calorie line is a general reference, not a personal target, so treat it as a yardstick.

Where the Numbers Come From

Every figure comes from Cook Out's official nutrition PDF, which you can read yourself: Cook Out nutrition PDF. When the menu board and the PDF disagree, the PDF wins. The full item-by-item guide is on the Cookout nutrition page.

Toppings and sauces, and a few items the PDF leaves out such as White Cheddar Cheese Bites, are not in the calculator. Add those by hand from the nutrition guide, which says where each figure comes from.

Sample Orders and Their Totals

These totals are added straight from the calculator, so you can check any of them by building the same order.

The light order lands at about 500 calories, the lowest a full tray gets, while the big order alone passes the 2,000-calorie reference. For the extremes, WRAL's 2024 "Cookout math" count found the heaviest possible tray at 2,639 calories.

Why the Menu Board and the Calculator Can Differ

The board rounds some figures and groups others, so the official PDF gives a more exact number. These are the differences that matter most:

What Moves the Total Most

Drinks and shakes swing an order more than most people expect. A milkshake runs from 538 calories (Fresh Banana Milkshake) to 925 (Cherry Cheesecake Milkshake), which is more than the burger beside it. Swapping a regular Coca-Cola for a diet drink saves 140 calories, and unsweetened tea saves up to 330. On the food side, the style you pick adds calories on top of the burger, so the same Regular Burger is 328 plain and 561 as a Cheddar Style burger.

Next steps: see every item on the nutrition guide, pick a lighter combination from low-calorie orders or a protein-heavy one from high-protein orders, or check what it all costs on the price list.

FAQs

1How many calories are in a Cookout tray?

It depends on what you pick. A light tray is about 500 calories (a Small Burger, two Onion Rings Sides and a diet drink adds to 501), while a tray built from the heaviest items can pass 2,600. Use the calculator to total your own.

2Where does the calculator get its numbers?

From Cook Out's official nutrition PDF. If the menu board shows something different, the PDF figure is the one used.

3Does the calculator include toppings and sauces?

No. It covers the main menu items, sides, shakes and drinks. Add toppings and sauces from the nutrition guide.

4How many calories are in a Cookout milkshake?

From 538 calories for a Fresh Banana Milkshake to 925 for a Cherry Cheesecake Milkshake, according to the official figures. Most flavors fall in between.

5What is the 2,000-calorie line in the calculator?

It is a general daily reference used to show how big your order is. Your own needs depend on age, size and activity, so use it as a yardstick, not advice.
